What is domain propagation?
Domain propagation is the time it takes for the changes you execute on the DNS to become visible on the Internet. The propagation itself takes from a few minutes up to 24 hours, depending on the DNS cache of your Internet provider.

Does the server include full root/administrator access?

Registering a .hr domain
There are two types of .hr domains: free and paid domains.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FREE AND A PAID .HR DOMAIN
A free .hr domain can be registered by all legal entities (companies, associations and other legal persons) and self-employed natural persons (tradesmen, medical doctors, attorneys, artists, etc.) based in the Republic of Croatia.
The user has a right to one free domain which they can register through an online registration system at: https://www.dns.hr/portal/register
Paid .hr domains can be registered by all legal and natural persons based in the Republic of Croatia which hold an “OIB” (Croatian Personal Identification Number), as well as legal persons based in the EU which hold a VAT ID.

RULES FOR NAMING FREE .HR DOMAINS
The name of a domain pertaining to a legal person must contain its registered name, its shortened registered name, an acronym of its name or an abbreviation containing the syllables of a multi-word registered name.
The name of a domain pertaining to a self-employed natural person must contain their registered name, their shortened registered name, an acronym of their name, an abbreviation containing the syllables of a multi-word registered name or an indication of their activity, as well as their first name, last name or full name.
There are no particular limitations regarding names of paid domains.
How do I manage my dedicated server?
Depending on the selected operating system, you can manage server settings using the Remote Desktop (Windows) or SSH (Linux). You can also install a web hosting control system, such as cPanel or CentOS Web Panel. You can access basic options, such as starting, restarting, stopping, naming the server, etc. through the MyDataKnox user site.
Redirecting an existing domain to MyDataKnox hosting
Redirecting an existing domain to MyDataKnox servers is performed by changing nameserver scripts.
The changes are executed in the system of the registry where the domain is registered.
If you decide to redirect your domain registered elsewhere to your MyDataKnox hosting account, you need to change the nameservers of the domain to:

How does R1Soft backup work?
In order to activate the R1Soft backup service, all you need to do is to install the R1Soft client software on the server you want to backup. Afterwards, the R1Soft makes copies in the following way:
- first, a complete copy of your server is made
- the R1Soft client is constantly monitoring all changes on the disks within your server
- each subsequent time a backup copy is saved, a snapshot is made and only the changed data is sent to the cloud (incremental backup).
How does my own customer support work if I’m using reseller hosting?
As a reseller, you’re providing support to your own customers; you’re completely in control of the communication with your hosting users – after all, you’re the owner of your business! Does cPanel come with VPS? Which panels do you support?
VPS servers are delivered without add-ons, but you can lease cPanel and other licenses from us. MyDataKnox support team will help you prepare the server and install cPanel or a free CentOS Web panel.
Mandatory identity verification for .hr and .com.hr domains
Starting in 2025, a condition for successful registration of .hr and .com.hr domains is verification of the domain owner’s data, which means that the user is required to provide evidence that the owner’s data entered when ordering the domain is correct.

Why do I have to prove that my information is correct?
According to the Cybersecurity Act , published on February 7, 2024, the Registry and registrars of .hr domains are obliged to determine the exact identity of domain users during registration based on secure and credible systems and data sources, i.e. to verify users.
How is verification done?
The verification process in MyDataKnox is performed after payment of the offer upon completion of the domain order.
After paying for the offer, the MyDataKnox system starts a verification process consisting of three steps:
- You will receive an email to your email address with a link to verify your ordered .hr and .com.hr domains.
- When opening the link, you are allowed to select the document you want to attach as proof of identity.
- After you attach the document, a PDF statement will be generated with an overview of your information as the domain owner and the document attached in the previous step.
- By clicking the confirm button, your verification is saved in the MyDataKnox system.
- MyDataKnox support confirms or rejects the verification.
- If the verification is confirmed, your domain is registered and the verification process is complete.
In case of verification rejection, you will receive an email stating the reason for the rejection and a new link to repeat the verification process.
What documents can I use for verification?
The attached document must be one of the following:
PERSONS
- ID card (both sides)
- passport
- certificate of residence issued by the competent authority (digitally signed or stamped)
- driver’s license
- a statement by a natural person digitally signed with a verified digital signature (with the stated purpose and data: name, surname, personal identification number)
LEGAL ENTITIES
- ID card of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
- passport of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
- certificate of residence issued by a competent authority (digitally signed or stamped) of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
- driver’s license of the person authorized to represent the legal entity

Frequently asked questions
- What if I don’t verify my identity?
In case of unsuccessful verification, MyDataKnox will refund the amount paid for the domain, and the domain will not be registered.
- I clicked on the verification link, but I got the message “Your verification token has expired”
If you see a token expiration message, it means that more than 72 hours have passed since the verification email was sent and you need to request a new verification.
Simply click on the “Request New Verification” button and the process will start over
- I attached a document, but I received the message “Invalid file format. Allowed formats are: …”
If you see this message, it means that the attached document is in a format that we do not accept.
Simply return to the verification form and attach the document in an allowed format.
Allowed formats are listed in the document submission form, and certainly include JPEG and PNG formats.
- What information do I need to confirm during the verification process?
The information that is confirmed by your acceptance of the information on the generated PDF statement is: Name and surname, address, e-mail address, OIB (Croatian Tax Identification Number), and phone number.
All of the above information is required for the successful registration of .hr and .com.hr domains.
What is an SSL certificate used for?
SSL certificates are used for protecting the data between the visitor and the server where the website is located. This means that SSL certificates enable safe online credit/debit card payments, protect the domain and company location information.
What’s the difference between web hosting and a VPS/dedicated server?
From the perspective of the end user, the main difference between web hosting and a VPS/dedicated server is the fact that a web hosting service is designed and optimised solely for the purpose of serving websites within a leased hosting package and comes with certain limitations regarding options such as installing your own applications, whereas a VPS server, as well as a dedicated server, is configurable and can be used for a variety of things, such as installing your own business solutions (CRM and ERP systems, cash register systems, etc.).

What do I need to be able to broadcast a ShoutCast radio programme? Which software and equipment do I require?
You require a programme which supports audio streaming. Some examples of those programmes are BUTT and RadioDJ, and both are free of charge. If you only intend to use the AutoDJ function, you don’t require that kind of software.
What happens if the number of cPanel users exceeds the number limited by the license?
In case of “outgrowing” the maximum number of users on a server, your license will need to be upgraded to the next larger package. If the license isn’t upgraded, your access to WHM will be suspended until you upgrade the license or reduce the number of users on that server.
Can I change the operating system on VPS, and how?
You can change the operating system of your VPS at any time through your MyDataKnox user website for server management. Bear in mind that you can install any operating system on a Windows VPS server, whereas there is no option of installing a Windows Server operating system on a Linux VPS server.
How can I renew my domain?
Before your domain expires, if it’s active, you’ll receive an automatic offer to renew it 30 days before it expires. You’ll also receive several reminders for domain renewal payment.

There are no limitations, but using the Exchange service as a newsletter system is not allowed.
Is a backup created for dedicated servers?
MyDataKnox doesn’t access your server data and therefore doesn’t create backup copies of the server. In order to securely backup your content, you need to use one of our cloud backup service or your own solution. MyDataKnox is not responsible for any data that might be lost due to your lack of a backup copy.
What is a domain transfer?
A domain transfer is actually a change of registry. It’s important to note that the transfer pertains only to the domain, not the hosting content. In other words, your domain can be registered with one provider, and the hosting (content) with another.
What are the prerequisites for using the Veeam Cloud Connect Backup service?
The main prerequisite is being an existing user of the Veeam backup service, which means that you need to have a Veeam console which enables you to connect to the Cloud Connect Backup service.
