What are the requirements for a domain transfer?
In order to perform a successful domain transfer, you have to meet the following requirements:
- You have be the owner of the domain or have access to the e-mail address indicated in the server as the e-mail of the administrator
- You need to unlock the domain for transfer with your current registrar and get an EPP code, which is required for most extensions (not for Croatian domains)
- The transfer must be initiated no later than 10 days prior to the expiration of the domain, so that it doesn’t expire during transfer
- The transfer must be performed at least 60 days after the domain has been registered or previously transferred.
What is CageFS and what is it used for?

Which level of DNS script control does DNS hosting provide?

What is a nameserver and what is it for?
In simple terms, we could describe a nameserver as a domain address book. Just like you would use an address book to look up information related to a particular person or company by name, the same goes for domains, since they also have an “address”. When you type our address mydataknox.com in your Internet browser, your computer uses DNS to retrieve the data about the nameserver containing the IP addresses linked to our domain. Afterwards, your computer requests the IP address of our web server, which, finally, sends the web page to your browser.
How much does a domain transfer cost?
A domain transfer costs as much as the renewal of that domain.
When a domain is being transferred, it is also automatically renewed for another year, starting from the date of expiration of its current lease period. You can find the pricing of domain transfers here.
Does radio hosting cover streaming copyright?
No. If you’re playing commercial music on your radio station, you need to obtain the authors’ consent. You can request more information from your local copyright collection society.

There are a few universal rules regarding the selection of a domain name:
- Choose a clear, unique and easily memorable domain name
- The name should link you or your company with the domain itself in as few characters as possible
- The domain name should not contain hyphens, numbers or special characters, unless it is strictly necessary
- The name should be easy to pronounce
- Make sure that the domain name is not registered or trademarked (e.g. eBay, etc.)
Can I change the root/administrator password on my server?
Of course. You can change the password at any time within the server itself or through your MyDataKnox user website for server management.
What if I use up all the hours included in the premium support service?
Should the included time be exceeded, each additional activity which is not part of the regular, i.e. ordinary MyDataKnox support will be charged for at a price of HRK 200 per hour, or the equivalent amount in a foreign currency. This price doesn’t include VAT and the billing unit is 30 minutes.
Can I lease an additional amount of listeners?
You can easily lease extra capacity at any moment.
What is a domain transfer?
A domain transfer is actually a change of registry. It’s important to note that the transfer pertains only to the domain, not the hosting content. In other words, your domain can be registered with one provider, and the hosting (content) with another.
How does licensing for the Veeam Cloud Connect Backup service work; how is the price set?
The license for the Veeam Cloud Connect service is defined according to the number of virtual servers you want to backup and the size of the leased MyDataKnox backup repository.
Does the premium support service include assistance with my applications?
MyDataKnox doesn’t offer support for specific issues related to applications such as programming, design and website development, unless otherwise agreed upon by the user and MyDataKnox. Even though the premium support service doesn’t include working with your applications, our technical staff will assist you with any issue as much as possible.
Can I buy the SSL certificate from MyDataKnox, and hosting from somewhere else?
Of course.
MyDataKnox doesn’t implement that kind of limitation; you can buy the certificate and install it on a server that is not one of ours.

What is a domain name and extension?
Every domain consists of a name and an extension.
In the example “mydomain.com”,
- “mydomain” is the domain name, and
- “.com” is the extension.
The domain name precedes the extension and it’s the part of the domain that makes a website unique, and, by analogy, a company, an individual, a project, etc.
A simple example would be “mydataknox” as our domain name.
Domain extensions are related to countries, business operations, activities, etc.
Am example of a country-related extension would be “.hr”, which signifies that the domain is related to Croatia. Some examples of business extensions are “.biz”, “.org” and “.com”.
Apart from the previously mentioned extensions, there are many others that cover a wide variety of areas, from professions and services to hobbies. Some examples of such topical extensions are, among others, “.apartments”, “.fitness”, “.pizza”, and “.news”.

Why do I have to enter my Personal Identification Number or Company Registration Number (the Croatian “OIB”) when purchasing an .hr or .com.hr domain
Croatian domains are linked to natural and legal persons, therefore, Carnet requires you to enter your PIN or CRN upon registration of a .hr or .com.hr domain.
What kind of software can I install on my server?
MyDataKnox doesn’t pose any limitations regarding the type of software you use on your server, as long as the software in question complies with our Terms of Service.
What is domain propagation?
Domain propagation is the time it takes for the changes you execute on the DNS to become visible on the Internet. The propagation itself takes from a few minutes up to 24 hours, depending on the DNS cache of your Internet provider.
What are my obligations regarding domain maintenance?
Your only obligation, after the domain has been registered and redirected to nameservers, is to renew it when it expires.
How is the Hosted Exchange service paid for?
The service is paid for on a monthly basis, and the amount depends solely on the number of e-mail accounts you create and the size of leased space.
Does the premium support service include the configuration of a cPanel VPS/dedicated server?
Yes. The premium support service includes the installation and configuration of the cPanel and CentOS Web Panel control panels.
Does cPanel come with VPS? Which panels do you support?
VPS servers are delivered without add-ons, but you can lease cPanel and other licenses from us. MyDataKnox support team will help you prepare the server and install cPanel or a free CentOS Web panel.
Types of SSL certificates
There are three types of SSL certificates, differing in the level of protection they provide and the way they are displayed in the browser.
- DV (domain validation) – SSL certificate that protects the domain and its owner. It’s displayed in the form of a padlock + https://name.domain
- OV (organization validation) – SSL certificate that verifies and protects company data. It’s displayed in the form of a padlock + https://name.domain
- EV (extended validation) – SSL certificate that provides maximum protection. It’s displayed in the browser as a long green bar containing the company name.
Which domain names are available?
A domain name is arbitrary and you can use any name you prefer, as long as a domain with that name hasn’t already been registered. You can check the availability of your preferred domain here.

What are the prerequisites for using the Veeam Cloud Connect Backup service?
The main prerequisite is being an existing user of the Veeam backup service, which means that you need to have a Veeam console which enables you to connect to the Cloud Connect Backup service.
Mandatory identity verification for .hr and .com.hr domains
Starting in 2025, a condition for successful registration of .hr and .com.hr domains is verification of the domain owner’s data, which means that the user is required to provide evidence that the owner’s data entered when ordering the domain is correct.

Why do I have to prove that my information is correct?
According to the Cybersecurity Act , published on February 7, 2024, the Registry and registrars of .hr domains are obliged to determine the exact identity of domain users during registration based on secure and credible systems and data sources, i.e. to verify users.
How is verification done?
The verification process in MyDataKnox is performed after payment of the offer upon completion of the domain order.
After paying for the offer, the MyDataKnox system starts a verification process consisting of three steps:
- You will receive an email to your email address with a link to verify your ordered .hr and .com.hr domains.
- When opening the link, you are allowed to select the document you want to attach as proof of identity.
- After you attach the document, a PDF statement will be generated with an overview of your information as the domain owner and the document attached in the previous step.
- By clicking the confirm button, your verification is saved in the MyDataKnox system.
- MyDataKnox support confirms or rejects the verification.
- If the verification is confirmed, your domain is registered and the verification process is complete.
In case of verification rejection, you will receive an email stating the reason for the rejection and a new link to repeat the verification process.
What documents can I use for verification?
The attached document must be one of the following:
PERSONS
- ID card (both sides)
- passport
- certificate of residence issued by the competent authority (digitally signed or stamped)
- driver’s license
- a statement by a natural person digitally signed with a verified digital signature (with the stated purpose and data: name, surname, personal identification number)
LEGAL ENTITIES
- ID card of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
- passport of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
- certificate of residence issued by a competent authority (digitally signed or stamped) of the person authorized to represent the legal entity

Frequently asked questions
- What if I don’t verify my identity?
In case of unsuccessful verification, MyDataKnox will refund the amount paid for the domain, and the domain will not be registered.
- I clicked on the verification link, but I got the message “Your verification token has expired”
If you see a token expiration message, it means that more than 72 hours have passed since the verification email was sent and you need to request a new verification.
Simply click on the “Request New Verification” button and the process will start over
- I attached a document, but I received the message “Invalid file format. Allowed formats are: …”
If you see this message, it means that the attached document is in a format that we do not accept.
Simply return to the verification form and attach the document in an allowed format.
Allowed formats are listed in the document submission form, and certainly include JPEG and PNG formats.
- What information do I need to confirm during the verification process?
The information that is confirmed by your acceptance of the information on the generated PDF statement is: Name and surname, address, e-mail address, OIB (Croatian Tax Identification Number), and phone number.
All of the above information is required for the successful registration of .hr and .com.hr domains.
How many servers can I link to the R1Soft backup service?
The MyDataKnox R1Soft backup service enables you to create a backup copy of up to two servers. You’ll select the number of servers that you wish to link to the service (number of agents) upon placing your order.
How can I transfer a domain to MyDataKnox?
A domain transfer starts with a domain transfer order on our website. Upon ordering a transfer, you’ll need an EPP authorization code for most extensions, which you can get from your existing registrar, and the domain must be unlocked for transfer. After you pay for the transfer, which is necessary since a domain is automatically prolonged for a year upon transfer, you’ll confirm the transfer by clicking on a link sent to you by e-mail. What is CloudLinux?

What is a VPS server?
VPS is, simply put, an acronym that stands for Virtual Private Server. How long does radio hosting activation take?
If you’re paying using a credit/debit card or PayPal, the service will be ready momentarily upon payment. If you’re paying via bank transaction, it can take up to 48 hours, however, you send us the payment confirmation in order to speed up the activation process.
I’m not sure which reseller plan I should get, can I change it at some point?
Of course! You can quickly and easily upgrade your reseller hosting package at any time. All you have to do is send an inquiry to our support team indicating the package you want. Which characters can I use in my domain name?
You can use all the letters of the alphabet, numbers and hyphens.
Even though it’s possible for domain names to contain special characters, such as letters used in languages other than English (e.g. š, đ, ž, ć, č), this should be avoided.
What is included in a dedicated server service?
All MyDataKnox dedicated servers include full administrator privileges, at least one public IP address, a console and a 1 Gbps network port.
Can I use multiple IP addresses on a single server?
Of course. Upon ordering a server, you select the number of additional IP addresses you require, and, in case you lease multiple addresses, you an easily set one main IP address for your server.
