If you require a specifically configured server or your websites have a large number of visitors, then VPS is the right solution for you. VPS can be completely adapted to meet your needs and provide you with a lot more control over your hosting environment than a web hosting service. On the other hand, if your require an installation of a special software such as CRM, ERP or similar systems, VPS provides you complete freedom of installation and configuration of such applications.
Starting in 2025, a condition for successful registration of .hr and .com.hr domains is verification of the domain owner’s data, which means that the user is required to provide evidence that the owner’s data entered when ordering the domain is correct. You can read details about the verification process below.
Why do I have to prove that my information is correct?
According to the Cybersecurity Act , published on February 7, 2024, the Registry and registrars of .hr domains are obliged to determine the exact identity of domain users during registration based on secure and credible systems and data sources, i.e. to verify users.
How is verification done?
The verification process in MyDataKnox is performed after payment of the offer upon completion of the domain order.
After paying for the offer, the MyDataKnox system starts a verification process consisting of three steps:
You will receive an email to your email address with a link to verify your ordered .hr and .com.hr domains.
When opening the link, you are allowed to select the document you want to attach as proof of identity.
After you attach the document, a PDF statement will be generated with an overview of your information as the domain owner and the document attached in the previous step.
By clicking the confirm button, your verification is saved in the MyDataKnox system.
MyDataKnox support confirms or rejects the verification.
If the verification is confirmed, your domain is registered and the verification process is complete. In case of verification rejection, you will receive an email stating the reason for the rejection and a new link to repeat the verification process.
What documents can I use for verification?
The attached document must be one of the following:
PERSONS
ID card (both sides)
passport
certificate of residence issued by the competent authority (digitally signed or stamped)
driver’s license
a statement by a natural person digitally signed with a verified digital signature (with the stated purpose and data: name, surname, personal identification number)
LEGAL ENTITIES
ID card of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
passport of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
certificate of residence issued by a competent authority (digitally signed or stamped) of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
driver’s license of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
statement of the person authorized to represent the legal entity digitally signed with a verified digital signature (with the stated purpose and data: name, surname, OIB/VAT)
document or statement with the signature and seal of the legal entity (for the stated purpose, it is necessary to provide information about the legal entity: name, OIB/VAT)
Frequently asked questions
What if I don’t verify my identity? In case of unsuccessful verification, MyDataKnox will refund the amount paid for the domain, and the domain will not be registered.
I clicked on the verification link, but I got the message “Your verification token has expired” If you see a token expiration message, it means that more than 72 hours have passed since the verification email was sent and you need to request a new verification. Simply click on the “Request New Verification” button and the process will start over
I attached a document, but I received the message “Invalid file format. Allowed formats are: …” If you see this message, it means that the attached document is in a format that we do not accept. Simply return to the verification form and attach the document in an allowed format. Allowed formats are listed in the document submission form, and certainly include JPEG and PNG formats.
What information do I need to confirm during the verification process? The information that is confirmed by your acceptance of the information on the generated PDF statement is: Name and surname, address, e-mail address, OIB (Croatian Tax Identification Number), and phone number. All of the above information is required for the successful registration of .hr and .com.hr domains.
MyDataKnox doesn’t access your VPS data and therefore doesn’t create backup copies. In order to securely backup your content, you need to use one of our cloud backup service or your own solution. MyDataKnox is not responsible for any data that might be lost due to your lack of a backup copy.
Yes, you can expand your VPS disk space by leasing additional space. However, the installed operating system must be properly configured in order to include the extra disk space. You can contact our customer support if you need more information or assistance.

Server management requires basic server administrator knowledge. You’ll need it to administrate the operating system you’ll install (Linux or Windows) and configure the applications. If you require a dedicated server, but feel that you lack the technical skills needed to manage a server, we recommend that you take a look at our Premium support service.
In order to help you find your way around the names of the services and the differences between them, we’ve prepared a comprehensive description below. WEB HOSTING Web hosting, sometimes known as shared hosting, is the most common form of hosting on the market and meets the requirements of most users regarding website hosting. By leasing a web hosting account, you’ll get access to your own separate account on a server which hosts many other users as well, and all of you share its complete resources. Hosting websites using shared web hosting has a few crucial advantages in comparison to VPS or a dedicated server:
when you get an account, everything is ready for use
you can easily install web applications using the cPanel interface
you can easily open e-mail addresses
the server is prepared solely for a web hosting service and is especially optimised for premium performance
general simple management
affordably priced web hosting packages.
Web hosting also has a few drawbacks, such as:
no advanced system configuration (e.g. MySQL)
resource limitation (every account has a specific amount of resources – CPU/RAM)
more advanced users, such as web shops with a large number of visitors, soon outgrow the options provided by a shared environment.
DEDICATED SERVER Dedicated hosting, or a dedicated server, is the complete opposite of a web hosting service.
Instead of using server resources together with other users, in a dedicated server, you have total access to the system and you can configure and use the server any way you want. Sounds great, and it is, however, it costs considerably more than an annual subscription to a hosting account. This type of hosting is intended for specific users, those that require dedicated resources, such as:
users with complex web applications with a large number of visitors
companies that use the servers for business applications and databases
users that require specific settings or virtualization.
VPS SERVER
VPS servers are a type of service which falls somewhere between web hosting and dedicated servers. It’s a service which enables you to use dedicated resources (CPU, RAM, storage) and it’s intended for users that outgrow a web hosting environment, but still don’t require the power of an entire dedicated server. VPS offers you many of the same advantages as a dedicated server at only a fraction of the price of one. Therefore, VPS gives you full administrator access and you can configure the server any way you like, just like with a dedicated server.
In order to present the similarities and differences of the aforementioned MyDataKnox services in the form of a clear overview, we’ve prepared a small table of their basic features.
Web hosting

Shared with all accounts on a shared hosting server
Public IP address solely for your VPS
Public IP address solely for your dedicated server
In simple terms, we could describe a DNS as a domain address book. Just like you would use an address book to look up information related to a particular person or company by name, the same goes for domains, since they also have an “address”. When you type our address mydataknox.com in your browser, your computer uses DNS to retrieve the data about the IP addresses linked to our domain. Afterwards, your computer requests the IP address of our web server, which, finally, sends the web page to your browser. To summarise, DNS connects symbolic domain names, such as the mydatakno.com domain, with the IP address of the server where the domain-related content is located.
In order to activate the R1Soft backup service, all you need to do is to install the R1Soft client software on the server you want to backup. Afterwards, the R1Soft makes copies in the following way:
first, a complete copy of your server is made
the R1Soft client is constantly monitoring all changes on the disks within your server
each subsequent time a backup copy is saved, a snapshot is made and only the changed data is sent to the cloud (incremental backup).
A dedicated server offers you top-notch performance for the purpose of hosting websites with heavy traffic, web applications, various business applications, such as CRM, ERP systems and many more. In simple terms, you can use a dedicated server for all situations in which you require high-level performance, security and complete control of the server.
You require a programme which supports audio streaming. Some examples of those programmes are BUTT and RadioDJ, and both are free of charge. If you only intend to use the AutoDJ function, you don’t require that kind of software.
The MyDataKnox Veeam Cloud Connect Backup service ensures a backup repository on a remote location, within the MyDataKnox cloud, that you can access through your Veeam console.
Our R1Soft backup solutions offers some crucial options: BACKUP COPY Whereas conventional backup solutions secure data by storing it on the same server or an external disk, MyDataKnox R1Soft backup keeps your data secure by storing it on enterprise equipment in our data centre. QUICK DISASTER RECOVERY Recover the complete server data without a second thought! Unlike with conventional solutions, MyDataKnox backup eliminates the need for disk partition and installing an operating system before recovering the data from the backup copy. All your files, databases and applications will be restored to the server in perfect shape, like nothing ever happened. HIGH-LEVEL PERFORMANCE Sector-based backup increases bandwidth and reduces the server load. The servers can be completely operational and the effect on the performance during backup creation is minimal. Backup copies can be made at any time of day without interrupting the server processes, even on loaded servers. FAST INCREMENTAL BACKUP Incremental backup can distinguish which disk sectors have been modified since the last backup and will backup only modified and new data. A smaller amount of backup data makes for a significantly quicker backup process. HIGH-LEVEL SECURITY All data is stored and recovered under strong encryption.
You can check whether a domain name is available through our websites using this link. There are a few universal rules regarding the selection of a domain name:
Choose a clear, unique and easily memorable domain name
The name should link you or your company with the domain itself in as few characters as possible
The domain name should not contain hyphens, numbers or special characters, unless it is strictly necessary
The name should be easy to pronounce
Make sure that the domain name is not registered or trademarked (e.g. eBay, etc.)
The EPP key, also known as Authorization code, is one of the safeguards against unauthorized transfers of domain name registrations. The EPP key is required when transferring .com, .org, .net and various other domain names. You cannot initiate a domain name transfer for these domain extensions without an EPP code.
Veeam Cloud Connect Backup is a service of performing off-site backup to the MyDataKnox cloud. Simply put, you lease backup space and add it to your Veeam console.

Yes. In order to use the Hosted Exchange service, you need to have your own domain and access to DNS scripts, since it’s necessary to perform certain modifications on DNS scripts.
Some important features of JetBackup for cPanel are:
Incremental data backup After creating the first backup copy which encompasses the entire cPanel account, every subsequent copy will solely include the differences in relation to the previous version, which accelerates the process of creating backup copies and enables the user to review the stores changes in detail.
Storage of copies to multiple locations JetBackup enables several technical options for the purpose of creating backup copies, such as storing copies to a remote server using FTP ili SSH, storing them on Dropbox or Amazon S3.
Recovery of individual files from backup copies In case you don’t need to recover the entire cPanel account, the transparent interface of JetBackup enables you to recover individual files, e-mail messages, databases, DNS scripts and a lot more with just a few clicks.
Full CloudLinux support With the full support of JetBackup for CloudLinux, you can place the process of creating backup copies within the LVE, which makes the backup copy be created within individually assigned resources for each cPanel user. If you don’t have CloudLinux, you can still optimise the process of creating backup copies by using resync IO limitations and assign priority to services.
Every reseller hosting package enables you to add your own branding elements (logo, contact information, your own nameserver domains). In fact, your users never even need to know that you’re a MyDataKnox user. You can contact our customer support for any help with branding you might need. We’ll be glad to help.
Why do I need web hosting? In order for your domain to display content, the content (web pages, images, etc.) must be located on a server which executed your website’s code and serves its contents. A web hosting service provides access to such a server.
cPanel builds on WHM, and, unlike WHM which is designed for the administration of the server and all its accounts, cPanel is a control panel for the end user, i.e. a centre for managing individual hosting accounts.
Some basic benefits of cPanel are:
simple installation of hundreds of different scripts and web applications, such as WordPress, Joomla, various forums, project management systems, etc.
quick e-mail account management and access to an e-mail interface
creation of an FTP account for the purpose of accessing server files
autonomous creation of a backup copy with just a few clicks
easy addition of new domains and creation of subdomains
assignment of a completely free SSL certificate to each domain
an overview of detailed statistical information regarding the number of views of hosted websites
user-friendly management of DNS zones within user accounts
mobile display of the cPanel interface enables account access and management from any part of the world
selection of the preferred PHP version separately for each domain
automated installation of popular CMS systems in just a few clicks
A dedicated server is a physical server that uses hardware resources that are accessible only to you, and you have full control over the server. Dedicated servers offer you a strong, reliable hardware, located at our cutting-edge data centre, which is cost-saving since there are no expenses regarding the procurement of a server, placing it in a data centre and maintaining it.
An account, often referred to as “the cPanel user” or “cPanel account” is an account used by the end user for logging into the cPanel interface in order to manage their website or e-mail. It should be pointed out that the total number of users on a cPanel server, in terms of licenses, is determined by the number of active and suspended users on that server. Therefore, cPanel checks the number of users on a server and counts them, whether they are active or suspended.
CageFS is a virtualized file system which isolates every user and makes them invisible to each other within the system. CageFS prevents a great number of attacks, including most attacks performed through privilege escalation.
