A domain transfer starts with a domain transfer order on our website. Upon ordering a transfer, you’ll need an EPP authorization code for most extensions, which you can get from your existing registrar, and the domain must be unlocked for transfer. After you pay for the transfer, which is necessary since a domain is automatically prolonged for a year upon transfer, you’ll confirm the transfer by clicking on a link sent to you by e-mail. Afterwards, it’ll only take a couple of minutes up to a few days, depending on the registrar and the domain extension, until the transfer is complete.
In order for your domain to display content, the content (web pages, images, etc.) must be located on a server which executed your website’s code and serves its contents. MyDataKnox web hosting service gives you access to that kind of server.
Hosted Exchange is a cloud platform which provides you with a reliable e-mail service, along with a significant cost reduction, since there are no initial investments in server infrastructure and licenses, and the monthly fee is completely transparent and defined by the number of open e-mail accounts. Exchange offers several possibilities for increasing productivity: from simple access using any device to automatic message, calendar, contact and map synchronization with high-level security and performance.
Of course. Upon ordering a server, you select the number of additional IP addresses you require, and, in case you lease multiple addresses, you an easily set one main IP address for your server.
When you order VPS, you can select your preferred operating system (Linux or Windows). You can see the entire list of available operating systems on our website.

Of course. You can upgrade any MyDataKnox web hosting package to a larger one or choose a smaller one at any time. All you have to do is request a change of package in the MyDataKnox user system, and the modification will be performed automatically upon payment of the price difference between your existing package and a larger one, or automatically when you request a smaller package. In case you wish to change the type of your web hosting package, e.g. exchange a Standard hosting package for an Advanced one, our support team will perform the task for you completely free of charge.
You require a programme which supports audio streaming. Some examples of those programmes are BUTT and RadioDJ, and both are free of charge. If you only intend to use the AutoDJ function, you don’t require that kind of software.
MyDataKnox doesn’t access your VPS data and therefore doesn’t create backup copies. In order to securely backup your content, you need to use one of our cloud backup service or your own solution. MyDataKnox is not responsible for any data that might be lost due to your lack of a backup copy.
Incremental backup enables you to accelerate the process of creating backup copies, after an initial complete server backup has been performed, by sending only modified and new data to the backup repository. A smaller amount of backup data makes for a significantly quicker backup process.
A domain transfer is actually a change of registry. It’s important to note that the transfer pertains only to the domain, not the hosting content. In other words, your domain can be registered with one provider, and the hosting (content) with another.
Server management requires basic server administrator knowledge. You’ll need it to administrate the operating system you’ll install (Linux or Windows) and configure the applications. If you require a dedicated server, but feel that you lack the technical skills needed to manage a server, we recommend that you take a look at our Premium support service.
In simple terms, we could describe a nameserver as a domain address book. Just like you would use an address book to look up information related to a particular person or company by name, the same goes for domains, since they also have an “address”. When you type our address mydataknox.com in your Internet browser, your computer uses DNS to retrieve the data about the nameserver containing the IP addresses linked to our domain. Afterwards, your computer requests the IP address of our web server, which, finally, sends the web page to your browser.
Generally speaking, content migration is your responsibility, however, our support team will execute the migration for you if it involves transferring content from one cPanel to another, or from one CentOS Web Panel to another. You are free to contact our support team regarding anything else and if your need specific answers.
cPanel builds on WHM, and, unlike WHM which is designed for the administration of the server and all its accounts, cPanel is a control panel for the end user, i.e. a centre for managing individual hosting accounts.
Some basic benefits of cPanel are:
simple installation of hundreds of different scripts and web applications, such as WordPress, Joomla, various forums, project management systems, etc.
quick e-mail account management and access to an e-mail interface
creation of an FTP account for the purpose of accessing server files
autonomous creation of a backup copy with just a few clicks
easy addition of new domains and creation of subdomains
assignment of a completely free SSL certificate to each domain
an overview of detailed statistical information regarding the number of views of hosted websites
user-friendly management of DNS zones within user accounts
mobile display of the cPanel interface enables account access and management from any part of the world
selection of the preferred PHP version separately for each domain
automated installation of popular CMS systems in just a few clicks
If you want to use our services, such as VPS hosting, you need a DNS server in order to connect your domain to the leased server. Considering that spending time and money on buying a DNS server or creating your own DNS solution is not cost-effective, MyDataKnox offers you a read-made solution completely free of charge, which takes care of the cost problem.
There are no limitations regarding the lease of a .ru domain, however, if the registrant or administrator is an organisation or company located in Russia, they must enter their tax identification number (10 digits), the company registration number (9 digits) and the registrant’s name. Private persons must enter their date of birth, passport number, the passport-issuing entity and the date of its issue. You can enter all the above-mentioned information on our website upon ordering an .ru domain.
Simply put, a domain is the address of your websites. Web hosting is a service of placing website on servers that are globally accessible online and which deliver your websites to their visitors.
The Veeam Cloud Connect Backup service is intended for existing users of Veeam backup and replication that require an off-site storage space for their backup copies.
Starting in 2025, a condition for successful registration of .hr and .com.hr domains is verification of the domain owner’s data, which means that the user is required to provide evidence that the owner’s data entered when ordering the domain is correct. You can read details about the verification process below.
Why do I have to prove that my information is correct?
According to the Cybersecurity Act , published on February 7, 2024, the Registry and registrars of .hr domains are obliged to determine the exact identity of domain users during registration based on secure and credible systems and data sources, i.e. to verify users.
How is verification done?
The verification process in MyDataKnox is performed after payment of the offer upon completion of the domain order.
After paying for the offer, the MyDataKnox system starts a verification process consisting of three steps:
You will receive an email to your email address with a link to verify your ordered .hr and .com.hr domains.
When opening the link, you are allowed to select the document you want to attach as proof of identity.
After you attach the document, a PDF statement will be generated with an overview of your information as the domain owner and the document attached in the previous step.
By clicking the confirm button, your verification is saved in the MyDataKnox system.
MyDataKnox support confirms or rejects the verification.
If the verification is confirmed, your domain is registered and the verification process is complete. In case of verification rejection, you will receive an email stating the reason for the rejection and a new link to repeat the verification process.
What documents can I use for verification?
The attached document must be one of the following:
PERSONS
ID card (both sides)
passport
certificate of residence issued by the competent authority (digitally signed or stamped)
driver’s license
a statement by a natural person digitally signed with a verified digital signature (with the stated purpose and data: name, surname, personal identification number)
LEGAL ENTITIES
ID card of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
passport of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
certificate of residence issued by a competent authority (digitally signed or stamped) of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
driver’s license of the person authorized to represent the legal entity
statement of the person authorized to represent the legal entity digitally signed with a verified digital signature (with the stated purpose and data: name, surname, OIB/VAT)
document or statement with the signature and seal of the legal entity (for the stated purpose, it is necessary to provide information about the legal entity: name, OIB/VAT)
Frequently asked questions
What if I don’t verify my identity? In case of unsuccessful verification, MyDataKnox will refund the amount paid for the domain, and the domain will not be registered.
I clicked on the verification link, but I got the message “Your verification token has expired” If you see a token expiration message, it means that more than 72 hours have passed since the verification email was sent and you need to request a new verification. Simply click on the “Request New Verification” button and the process will start over
I attached a document, but I received the message “Invalid file format. Allowed formats are: …” If you see this message, it means that the attached document is in a format that we do not accept. Simply return to the verification form and attach the document in an allowed format. Allowed formats are listed in the document submission form, and certainly include JPEG and PNG formats.
What information do I need to confirm during the verification process? The information that is confirmed by your acceptance of the information on the generated PDF statement is: Name and surname, address, e-mail address, OIB (Croatian Tax Identification Number), and phone number. All of the above information is required for the successful registration of .hr and .com.hr domains.
Croatian domains are linked to natural and legal persons, therefore, Carnet requires you to enter your PIN or CRN upon registration of a .hr or .com.hr domain.
A domain name is arbitrary and you can use any name you prefer, as long as a domain with that name hasn’t already been registered. You can check the availability of your preferred domain here.
Cloudlinux OS offers great stability-related features:
LVE virtual environment LVE is a kernel-level technology developed by the CloudLinux team which operates in a way similar to container virtualization. The LVE Manager enables you to maintain precise control over your server’s resources, including CPU, IO, memory, inodes, the number of processes and connections that each individual cPanel account can use. Thanks to CloudLinux, you can ensure for your customers the resources they leased without depriving other users from their resources.
MySQL Governor MySQL is often one of the main problematic areas for hosting companies. Keeping MySQL stable can be tricky, and users sending requests to the base can slow everything down. That’s where MySQL Governor comes in. Its ability to pinpoint problematic users and limit them in real time is unprecedented in the industry as of yet. Offering support for the latest versions of MySQL and MariaDB, CloudLinux is an imperative part of any shared hosting.
CageFS CageFS is a virtualized file system which isolates every user and makes them invisible to each other within the system. CageFS prevents a great number of attacks, including most attacks performed through privilege escalation.
PHP Selector Enable your users to select a specific PHP version that they require for their hosting account. PHP Selector provides premium flexibility by offering the users all the popular versions of PHP, which enables them to keep old scripts without the obligation to use newer PHP versions or change the code of their website. You are in charge of managing the PHP versions that are available to the users, as well as all available PHP extensions.
Mod_lsapi Faster than any other way of serving PHP using an Apache server, while also being compatible with MPM Worker and not requiring configuration. It support PHP settings through .htacess and is completely compatible with PHP Selector.
SecureLinks A kernel-level technology that prevents all known symlink attacks. This significantly increases the server’s security level and prevents hostile users from creating symbolic links between files.
The MyDataKnox Veeam Cloud Connect Backup service ensures a backup repository on a remote location, within the MyDataKnox cloud, that you can access through your Veeam console.
Should the included time be exceeded, each additional activity which is not part of the regular, i.e. ordinary MyDataKnox support will be charged for at a price of HRK 200 per hour, or the equivalent amount in a foreign currency. This price doesn’t include VAT and the billing unit is 30 minutes.
There are three types of SSL certificates, differing in the level of protection they provide and the way they are displayed in the browser.
DV (domain validation) – SSL certificate that protects the domain and its owner. It’s displayed in the form of a padlock + https://name.domain
OV (organization validation) – SSL certificate that verifies and protects company data. It’s displayed in the form of a padlock + https://name.domain
EV (extended validation) – SSL certificate that provides maximum protection. It’s displayed in the browser as a long green bar containing the company name.
MyDataKnox doesn’t pose any limitations regarding the type of software you use on your server, as long as the software in question complies with our Terms of Service.
Domain propagation is the time it takes for the changes you execute on the DNS to become visible on the Internet. The propagation itself takes from a few minutes up to 24 hours, depending on the DNS cache of your Internet provider.
From the perspective of the end user, the main difference between web hosting and a VPS/dedicated server is the fact that a web hosting service is designed and optimised solely for the purpose of serving websites within a leased hosting package and comes with certain limitations regarding options such as installing your own applications, whereas a VPS server, as well as a dedicated server, is configurable and can be used for a variety of things, such as installing your own business solutions (CRM and ERP systems, cash register systems, etc.).
It’s possible that, during the propagation period (up to 24 hours), the old server content is still displayed to some of your website’s visitors. This is mostly due to the DNS cache of the visitor’s Internet provider, but sometimes the reason is that the pages that are stored in the Internet browser cache are those that are displayed, so your browser cache needs to be cleared.
Each additional activity which is not part of the regular, i.e. ordinary MyDataKnox support will be charged for at a price of HRK 200 per hour, or the equivalent amount in a foreign currency. This price doesn’t include VAT and the billing unit is 30 minutes. Some examples of activities beyond the scope of normal support include: web application issues, installation and/or script configuration, etc.
If I order web hosting today, how much time will it take for it to be ready to use? If you’re paying with a credit/debit card or using Paypal, your web hosting will be ready momentarily. If you’re paying through online banking, i.e. via bank transaction, we’ll initiate the creation of your web hosting account as soon as the amount appears on our account, or as soon as you send us a payment confirmation. In order to accelerate the process of creating your hosting service following a bank transaction payment, please send us the payment confirmation to our e-mail address info@mydataknox.com.
SSL certificates are used for protecting the data between the visitor and the server where the website is located. This means that SSL certificates enable safe online credit/debit card payments, protect the domain and company location information.
As a reseller, you’re providing support to your own customers; you’re completely in control of the communication with your hosting users – after all, you’re the owner of your business! You’ll be able to create your own website, set up hosting packages and pricing, install scripts and modify certain aspects of user websites. Naturally, MyDataKnox support is available 24 hours a days for its reseller customers. You can contact us at any time regarding high-level technical or server issues. MyDataKnox is responsible for uninterrupted functioning and stability of the reseller hosting service, and we’ll always be glad to help you with questions related to the functioning of the server.
WHM is designed as a solution for simple management of a large number of websites and helps you manage resources and create user (hosting) accounts. Some fundamental benefits of WHM are:
it’s very easy to create hosting packages for your own projects, as well as offer a web hosting service to others
enables you to manage hosted websites and separate them into individual cPanel accounts, which is really useful if you wish to keep business sites separate from private ones, or simply want to separate the access to control panels of each hosted website
automated management of security settings helps you increase the security of all websites, since WHM enables you to manage a firewall, as well as many antivirus and antispam solutions, through integrated mechanisms and simple extensions
regular upgrades prevent various types of malfunctions that might jeopardise your server
a free SSL certificate is automatically assigned to each hosting account, which ensures additional security for each hosted website.
In order to help you find your way around the names of the services and the differences between them, we’ve prepared a comprehensive description below. WEB HOSTING Web hosting, sometimes known as shared hosting, is the most common form of hosting on the market and meets the requirements of most users regarding website hosting. By leasing a web hosting account, you’ll get access to your own separate account on a server which hosts many other users as well, and all of you share its complete resources. Hosting websites using shared web hosting has a few crucial advantages in comparison to VPS or a dedicated server:
when you get an account, everything is ready for use
you can easily install web applications using the cPanel interface
you can easily open e-mail addresses
the server is prepared solely for a web hosting service and is especially optimised for premium performance
general simple management
affordably priced web hosting packages.
Web hosting also has a few drawbacks, such as:
no advanced system configuration (e.g. MySQL)
resource limitation (every account has a specific amount of resources – CPU/RAM)
more advanced users, such as web shops with a large number of visitors, soon outgrow the options provided by a shared environment.
DEDICATED SERVER Dedicated hosting, or a dedicated server, is the complete opposite of a web hosting service.
Instead of using server resources together with other users, in a dedicated server, you have total access to the system and you can configure and use the server any way you want. Sounds great, and it is, however, it costs considerably more than an annual subscription to a hosting account. This type of hosting is intended for specific users, those that require dedicated resources, such as:
users with complex web applications with a large number of visitors
companies that use the servers for business applications and databases
users that require specific settings or virtualization.
VPS SERVER
VPS servers are a type of service which falls somewhere between web hosting and dedicated servers. It’s a service which enables you to use dedicated resources (CPU, RAM, storage) and it’s intended for users that outgrow a web hosting environment, but still don’t require the power of an entire dedicated server. VPS offers you many of the same advantages as a dedicated server at only a fraction of the price of one. Therefore, VPS gives you full administrator access and you can configure the server any way you like, just like with a dedicated server.
In order to present the similarities and differences of the aforementioned MyDataKnox services in the form of a clear overview, we’ve prepared a small table of their basic features.
Web hosting
VPS server
Dedicated server
IP address
Shared with all accounts on a shared hosting server
Public IP address solely for your VPS
Public IP address solely for your dedicated server
VPS management requires basic server administrator knowledge. You’ll need it to administrate the operating system you’ll install (Linux or Windows) and configure the applications. If you require VPS, but feel that you lack the technical skills needed to manage a server, we recommend that you take a look at our Premium support service.
